Tea Station in pantry

Back in the fall of 2010 I posted about my open faced pantry, and here is a current update on how it's doing and my newly organized tea station after I've accumulated way too much tea from mainly both Teaopia and David's tea.

There is probably just about one other thing that I enjoy along side cooking and photography and that is organizing.

A little tip that I wanted to share here is using these little cardboard trays that delicate pastas come in, save them because if you're like me they will come in handy!

Oh and I've got one more tip! Those little tea pouches from David's tea were going all over the place, and it was hard to keep control of them so if you notice below I used the cardboard/paper boutique style paper bag and cut across and now they can sit nicely inside. I love how it's says "David's tea" and I know what I'm reaching for.

Teaopia's Fireside S'mores TEA

Here's how I enjoyed my new S'mores tea from Teaopia! Prepared in a similar way to Indian Chai Tea where the blend is infused into the milk.

I chose brown sugar as a sweetener and it complemented it very well :)

Oh and I just want to also mention that it tastes great steeped as regular tea with water, has a real toasty flavour!

Cactus Fig Iced Tea

Cactus pear, cactus fig, prickly pear, cactus fruit, whatever you call it is one of my favourite fruits!
On my last visit to Teaopia, I tried a sample of the iced tea prepared in store and when I asked what the yummy tea was they told me it was Cactus fig (which I was pretty sure was the same fruit I call cactus pear or prickly pear)
Either way the tea was yummy and I had to have it!

Here I brewed some up and chilled it, sweetened with honey or agave nectar (your choice) and enjoyed with some citrus it is a nice way to enjoy these last days of summer.

Your local gourmet tea shop will give you instructions on how to brew up each blend and ideas to enjoy it hot or cold, it's awesome and healthy!

On a funny note, lesson learnt that objects in reality are farther than they appear in my macro lens. This is the second time I make this mistake thus ending up with honey on my counter this time around.

:D

Tea - the perfect drink for cool weather

I love tea!! Here are some shots that I've taken over the last year or so from the various kinds of teas in my kitchen.

The blooming teas are impressive and so gorgeous.

If you haven't tried a lot of these already I encourage you to indulge... this Autumn go to your nearest gourmet tea shop and pick some up!

Brew a nice pot of this universally enjoyed beverage to share with your friends and family.

A trip to David's Tea

David's tea, a new tea shop on the scene.

Previous to my new discovery I've been familiar with both the Tea Emporium and Teaopia which have been gaining popularity as they spread out across the city promoting healthy and wide varieties of teas.

I've been a fan of both, as I love tea and it's always fun to try new varieties and blends, plus they have some amazing gift items for tea lovers, from mugs to tea pots and those beautiful cast iron traditional pots, even kettles... matcha stone bowls with matching bamboo whisks.

You almost always learn something new from a visit.

Here are a few things I picked up from David's tea.

Happy Kombucha, which they had samples of the first day I walked into their store.
It's fruity, exotic, tropical but very addictive, something about it just makes you keep coming back and while I drink a lot of tea and on a regular basis I've never felt so drawn to a "Fruity" tea as much as this one.

Good stuff!!
Today I returned with a new tea, movie night! It smells like caramel maple pop corn! Absolutely wonderful with notes of apple. Can't wait to brew up a batch.
