Cactus Fig Iced Tea

Cactus pear, cactus fig, prickly pear, cactus fruit, whatever you call it is one of my favourite fruits!
On my last visit to Teaopia, I tried a sample of the iced tea prepared in store and when I asked what the yummy tea was they told me it was Cactus fig (which I was pretty sure was the same fruit I call cactus pear or prickly pear)
Either way the tea was yummy and I had to have it!

Here I brewed some up and chilled it, sweetened with honey or agave nectar (your choice) and enjoyed with some citrus it is a nice way to enjoy these last days of summer.

Your local gourmet tea shop will give you instructions on how to brew up each blend and ideas to enjoy it hot or cold, it's awesome and healthy!

On a funny note, lesson learnt that objects in reality are farther than they appear in my macro lens. This is the second time I make this mistake thus ending up with honey on my counter this time around.

Cleaning my microwave while making lemonade

So when you're making lemonade (like I am prepping for tomorrow - look for the post because it will include a rather intresting ingredient!) you can also go ahead and clean your microwave.

Here is a fun tip to use up those lemons.

So after you've squeezed your lemons (there is always leftover juice inside but just go ahead and throw those halves into a big bowl) and add some water to it.

Now pop it into the microwave for 4 mins or so.. until you see steam on the microwave door as you look in.

Get some paper towel or a clean cloth then remove your bowl (some or all the water may have evaporated by that point) and begin wiping down the walls and ceiling of the microwave. Remove the tray and wipe everything down.

It's so easy and fantastic! You can go into the lemon water and dip your cloth in to clean with it too for those tough stains.
